MFU International Winter Programme 2025

“Thai Language and Culture”

13 – 27 January 2025

The purpose of this two-week programme is to provide an excellent opportunity for international students to learn Thai Language including the Thai alphabets, sounds, Thai numbers as well as how to communicate with short conversations and questions.

 Additionally, students can obtain hands-on experience while explore cultural aspects of the Thailand including values, traditions, art and lifestyles through various Thai cultural workshop and study trips in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai province, Thailand

Programme Contents: 

  1. Thai Language and Culture for Beginner Level (30 hrs.) by MFU Lecturers, School of Sinology 
  • Special Lecture: Thai Culture 
  • Introduction and Greetings 
  • Basic Knowledge of Thai Language and Being Polite in Thailand
  • Consonants, Vowels and Tones 
  • Numbers and Counting 
  • Syntactical Questions and Answers 
  • Family 
  • Days of the Week and Months of the Year
  • Time and Weather 
  • Places, Directions and Transportation 
  • Sickness and Health 
  • Restaurants and Shopping

 (2) Thai Culture and Traditions Workshops for examples: 

  • Thai Handicraft (Paper Cutting – Lanna Style) 
  • Thai Dessert Class &Thai Food Cooking 
  • Thai Traditional Dances 
  • Loy Krathong Festival 
  • Songkran Festival                 
  • Thai Boxing

(3) Study Trips (3 Trips) Experiencing Thai culture through local cultural attractions in Chiang Rai province for examples:

  • Black House Museum ● Golden Triangle 
  • Blue Temple ● Chui Fong Tea Plantation 
  • White Temple ● Thamluang Khunnam Nangnon National Park
  • Doi Chaang coffee factory ● Doi Tung Palace, Mae Fah Luang Foundation
  • Akha Farmville ● Chiang Rai Night Bazaar

Period: 2025 (2 Weeks) 

Language of Instruction: Chinese and Thai Language

Eligibility: High School or Undergraduate students in any field of study 

Programme Fee: 32,500 THB (Thai Baht) 

Minimum number of student: 20 Students

Expenses: Student will pay for the expenses that are as follows: 

(√) Includes: tuition fee, application, study and workshop materials, local transportation during programme, entrance fees and meals during study trip, airport Pick-up & Drop-off, on campus accommodation (including breakfast) (X) Excludes: round-trip airfare, some meals, visa fee and international health insurance

3 Steps to apply to the MFU International Winter Programme 2025

Step 1: Submit Application Form

  • The Application Form can be downloaded from the website https://mfu-thailand.cn/
  • Complete the application form, and then submit it with required documents to the Global Relations Division by email: global@mfu.ac.th within 30 September 2024

Step 2: Receive Information

  • E-mail confirmation and invoice for the programme fee will be received in approximately 2 days
  • Applicant must pay for the programme within a day after receiving an invoice for payment. Please send a receipt of transaction for the programme fee by scanning or taking photo to global@mfu.ac.th and please also include transfer amount, date of transfer and account number in the email.

Step 3: Arrive & Depart

  • Arrival & Pick-up

– Student must set the arrival date on 13 January 2025

– MFU will provide pick-up service from Chiang Mai International Airport during 08.00-16.00 hrs.

  • Departure & Drop-off

– Student must set the departure date on 27 January 2025

– MFU will provide drop-off service to Chiang Mai International Airport during 08.00-16.00 hrs.
